In an effort to bridge the gap between theatre and women+ playwrights, MOXIE Theatre is seeking new works written by women+. We use "women+" to honor our women-centered history while moving beyond the binary. Playwrights who identify as Women, Trans Women, Nonbinary, Genderqueer, Gender non conforming, and any other gender expansive individual are welcome to submit.
Submissions are now open for ten-minute plays, full-length plays, and full-length musicals. Four (4) ten-minute plays, two (2) full-length plays, and one (1) full-length musical will be selected for staged reading. The musical and one full-length play will be selected for workshopping.
Submission Deadline: June 30th, 2025 - Festival will take place in March 2026
Eligibility:
All plays must be written by women+ playwrights. For musicals, at least two thirds of the writing team must identify as women+ (in a team of two people, both must identify as women+)
Works submitted must beunpublished, unproduced, and available for production.
Only one submission is allowed per playwright.
We recommend submitting works that require a maximum of 6 actors. Please keep this in mind if you have multiple works you could chose from. If you feel strongly about a play or musical of yours that requires a bigger cast, you are still welcome to submit it.
21 Things I Know About Playwriting I wrote my first play twenty years ago. I wrote my second play one year later. Here are 21 things I learned in the year between the two.
